Karvd Custom Pumpkin Carving

Carving Tips

Preparation:

Before you can start carving, you need to get your pumpkin ready. Instead of cutting into the pumpkin from the top, make a round opening on the bottom. This method makes it easier to put in lighting since you can just rest the pumpkin on top. It also distracts less from the actual carving than a cut around the top would.

Once you’ve got a way in it’s time to get your hands dirty and start scooping out all the goop that’s inside. You can even wash and bake the seeds if you’re so inclined. After you have all the guts emptied out, you’ll want to thin the walls of the pumpkin so that it’s easier to carve through. You’ll want the walls around an inch thick.

Of course, you can completely forgo the process of choosing and preparing your pumpkin if you go with an artificial pumpkin such as those provided by Funkins. That way your pumpkin won’t rot and your carving can last indefinitely.
